Submission release
Before you send a script, treatment, pilot or any other material, you must accept this release. It sets out who owns what and what each of us can expect. By checking the box at booking, or signing below, you agree to these terms.
1. Your material
You confirm that you wrote the material or have the right to submit it, and that submitting it doesn't violate anyone else's rights.
2. You keep all rights
You keep full ownership of your material. Matt Tabak ("Matt") acquires no rights, credit or interest in it. Notes and suggestions he gives you are yours to use or ignore, without any further payment or credit to him.
3. Confidentiality
Matt will not share, distribute, pitch or show your material to anyone without your written permission, except where required by law. Files are deleted X days after the service is complete.
4. Similar ideas
You understand that Matt is an active writer, producer and teacher who reads many projects, and that stories often share ideas, themes, premises and characters. Material similar to yours may already exist, or may be created independently by Matt or others. Similarity alone does not give you a claim against Matt, and submitting your material does not restrict his own creative work.
5. No other obligations
This is a paid consulting service. Submitting material does not create any agreement to buy, option, produce, represent or introduce your project. Matt is not acting as your agent, manager or producer.
6. Not legal representation
Scope statement Whether career, deal and contract advice constitutes legal advice, and on what basis. To be written by Matt as an attorney.
7. Disputes
This release is governed by California law. Dispute resolution and remedies For example, mediation and then arbitration in Los Angeles County, and any limits on remedies. To be drafted by counsel.
8. Entire agreement
This release, together with the terms of service, is the full agreement about your submitted material. Any change must be in writing and agreed by both of us.
